Project Ponytails second annual ‘A Strike Against Cancer 2010 another great success!
I extend my apologies to everyone for the lateness of this posting. I hope that it was worth the wait!
On May 8th, 2010, Project Ponytail held it’s second annual bowl-a-thon, A Strike Against Cancer to aide the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre. This event saw a great turnout and we again reached and surpassed our fundraising goal of $5000. With more than 70 bowlers, loads of sponsors, tons of door prizes and trophies to hand out, everyone had a great time.
We also worked with Le Couvre Tete this year and provided a wig to a West Island resident that is undergoing chemotherapy treatments. It was our honour to help this person and we hope to be able to extend this service to many other such people in the coming months.
As promised, my own ponytail was cut off that day and it will be packaged with nearly 20 others to be sent to Pantene Beautiful Lengths to be made into wigs for cancer patients that are in need.
Here is a listing of the prizes and winners of the event. Below, you will find pictures taken that day.

Un Abat Contre Le Cancer – 2010 A Strike Against Cancer - 2010
Project Ponytail is proud to announce a new partnership for 2010. We have joined forces with the organization Le Couvre Tête. (www.perruquecouvretete.ca) These ladies offer the public high quality hair replacement solutions but more importantly, they offer them to people who are battling cancer. The hair loss associated with chemotherapy can be an unrelenting reminder of a persons battle with cancer. Le Couvre Tête helps to return a little of the dignity lost to these people. Our next event, A Strike Against Cancer – 2010, is coming up in a little more than a month. Proceeds from this event will go to providing a wig to someone that is battling cancer with the help of Le Couvre Tête. If you would like to be a part of it, check out the events page and sign up.

2nd time is the charm!
September 21st. What an exciting day. We finally got out there and jumped. It was an amazing time and we all had a blast. First and foremost, I want to thank Parachute Montréal for all of their help and support. You couldn’t ask for a better team to go skydiving with. Their staff is knowledgeable, friendly and generous. Secondly, I want to thank all the jumpers. Every one of them made sure that the event was a success. Even after we got rained out the first day, everyone showed up for the second attempt. What a great team! All said and done, we were able to raise 300$ in donations. The success of this day really inspires me for the future of our fundraising.
Thanks to all who participated.
